"Brian, The Life of" (familycar)

I was cleaning out some old email for some reason and came upon this gem. A while back I was trying to remember just how much time I've wasted long I've been lurking about. I now have a definitive answer:
How long have you been milling about?

It's been at least since summer of '12 that I've been actively commenting, though I think I used to bounce through the Jalopnik front page as far back as '09 or so. I wasn't sticky enough to comment at that time.

I've been here for two and a half years now, I think. It's been alright.
EDIT: My question has always been how many people actually recognize me, not to sound like an asshole. I realize I'm not a huge personality here, but still.

I lurked sometime before making my first comment in August of 2009. That comment was to an article by Murilee Martin.

I was reading from 2009 and finally was able to comment when kinja came about. Before kinja it would always give me error messages when I tried to make an account.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

I started reading Kotaku sometime around 2008-ish, and discovered Jalopnik in 2009/10 and started commenting on Jalopnik in 2010.

I've been reading and commenting for about 2 years. and have been posting for about 1 year.
I can't remember how I stumbled on Jalopnik for the first time but it's been the best/worst thing to ever happen to me.
Best because it's awesome, worst because I can't get any damn work done anymore.

Wow, my first real chunk of my sarcasm to be found here. There might be comment burrired deep down in a QOTD from years ago asking about parent kid bonding car projects. Might have gone by 76pinto or something like that.

My first post on Oppo was early 2013...maybe March?
First post on Gawker was for Gizmodo sometime in high school...guessing early 2007. Got the star in 2009 I believe.
First Jalopnik post, idk. Can't just keep scrolling back like we used to.

I believe my first comment is late 2010. It's interesting to go through some of the "best of" posts earlier and see one of my comments.

Lurking since 2007, started posting in Off Topic since January 2008. I was starred by Murilee, I don't remember what my comment was though.

I'd been reading the front page since 2011 or 2012, I made an account and joined Oppo in February.

Either my perception of time is off or we can no longer look back very far...I found a post from May of 2011 on Gizmodo, but I'm not in the grey. Stupid search function.
If you want to look back that far go to username.kinja.com/private/mine?startTime=1312415013399 That time is 5/31/11 it seems.

I've read Jalopnik for a while, but barely if at all commented...definitely didn't comment while I was still in grad school (finished end of 2010). First comment I have on Kinja is from September of 2012.
EDIT: Just looked through, the first time I shared a Jalopnik article was in June of 2009, shortly after I finished undergrad (I may have using my university e-mail address, but that's lost to history).

I started on Oppo in August 2013, but I read Jalopnik a few months before that. Call it a year and a half.

I started lurking around 2005 but from a government computer and never got around to creating an ID. I finally did with my facebook around 2009 between AFG deployments, and then when I got rid of my facebook started again with my Google+ last year (2013).

I'm not totally sure. The oldest email I have is from 2009, but it was confirming an account update probably related to some commenting system revision, I was definitely already around way before then. I want to say maybe around the 2005-2006 timeframe, but not positive.

I had a similar reaction to your Pythonesque one. I'm thinking it must have been sometime in 2006, with some lurking beforehand.

The oldest record I found of myself was from 2007 where I argued with whoever was on this site back then (and Johnny Lieberman) about whether or not the BMW M5 was a supercar (I was rather opinionated in College). Then I lurked for a long while, and as of last week I have started commenting again.
Man, that was over 7 years ago...
